Been there, done that!

"But, why not?"
"Son, trust me when i say this... When i was like you, i was like you"
Some time back, I told a friend of mine I listen to metal music. He very understandingly told me that he used to, too but he graduated from that to Coldplay and Oasis. So, what I was actually being told was that I am where he was a couple years ago. Another possible implication is that the band members of Metallica, either, overwhelmed by commercial success, chose money over mind or that they fixated on the stage in which my friend was a couple years ago. That apart, I'm made to believe that my opinion on Coldplay's music having homosexual inclinations is also a part of the stage I'm in.
Ah! The golden teen years, the pinnacle of which, at, I stand, where after one survives the emotional trauma of his first nightfall or her first period, one's mind is still preoccupied with such worries as his chest hair and her waist size. Although I am not one to vouch for the masses, I do strongly recommend the acknowledgment of diversity by our respected elders.
Lately, I've been on the receiving end of a lot of 'Been there, done that' stories. When I said, "I am tired of these stupid social gatherings.", I was very diplomatically told, "It's your age".
"I am a cynic as concerns politics and India's bright future" - "It's your age"
"I don't believe in god." - "Small letter 'g' in 'God'?! Mother Mary! Forgive this child for he knows not what he's saying!"
As I wait with bated breath for the lightning to strike and hell to swallow me whole, I can't help ponder over some questions - I used to write grim stories... a couple weeks back I was going to write 'Wisdom from an adolescent? - Bitch, please!' ... Did i just slightly grow? Another question is how much time do I have until some Freudian disciple puts my mind to bed?
Well, these are just toys for my mind to play with, in its spare time. But the real question of significance is -
'Is advice some kind of a shortcut?'
